1. What Are Cookies & Local Storage?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) by your web browser when you visit websites. In addition to cookies, Soundalike utilizes modern web technologies such as HTML5 Local Storage and Session Storage to preserve your audio workstation configuration, volume levels, and playback sessions smoothly without lag.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies and storage technologies for four primary purposes:
1. Strictly Necessary Cookies (Essential)
These cookies are indispensable for the core operation of the Platform. They enable secure authentication, maintain your logged-in session, protect against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), and process Stripe checkout payments. Without these cookies, Soundalike cannot provide its basic services.
2. Functional & Studio Preference Cookies
These tokens remember your customized settings to ensure a seamless music discovery workflow. Examples include: audio playback volume, lossless 320 kbps preview preferences, active genre filters, loop regions on waveforms, and RhymeFlow studio layout options.
3. Algorithmic Recommendations & Taste Profiling
When enabled, these tokens help our neural recommendation model understand your musical style in Swap Mode (remembering right-swiped beats to recommend complementary keys, BPM ranges, and acoustic moods). You can toggle this feature on or off at any time in your Settings under Privacy & Data → Taste Profiling.
4. Analytics & Performance Cookies (Optional — Consent Required)
Only if you grant your consent through our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregated traffic and usage of the Platform, and Vercel Speed Insights to monitor technical performance metrics (Core Web Vitals). These technologies are not loaded before you consent. If you reject them, no analytics request is sent to these providers.
3. Key Cookies & Tokens Used by Soundalike

4. Consent Management & Withdrawal
When you first visit the Platform, a cookie banner allows you to accept all cookies orreject all non-essential cookies with equal ease. No analytics or other non-essential technology is activated before you make a choice. Your decision is recorded locally in the soundalike_cookie_consent token.
You may withdraw or change your consent at any time by clearing your browser storage for soundalike.io, after which the banner will be shown again and non-essential cookies will remain disabled until a new choice is made.
5. Managing and Disabling Cookies
You have full control over cookies. You can configure your browser to block or alert you about cookies:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Third-party cookies.
- Apple Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Block All Cookies.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
Please note: blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent user authentication, cart checkout, and streaming from functioning properly.
